Rolls-Royce Wins Largest Order Ever Worth $9.2 Billion
Bondholder and civil aerospace giant Rolls-Royceis having a double celebration this week, on being voted the most popular engineering firm by 40,000 students and recent graduates, and winning its largest order ever worth $9.2 billion with Emirates Airline.
In the company's $9.2 billion deal it will provide Trent 900 engines and TotalCare® service support to power 50 Airbus A380 aircraft that will enter service from 2016. This deal confirms the Trent 900 is the engine of choice for the four-engine A380 with a market share of over 50% and selected by the majority of A380 customers.
John Riston, Chief Executive Officer at Rolls-Royce, said: “The success of Emirates over the last 30 years has been extraordinary; this is in no small part thanks to the exceptional leadership of Sir Tim Clark. Rolls-Royce has been proud to have been part of this success, powering Emirates aircraft since 1996.”
Sir Tim Clark, President at Emirates Airline, said: “Rolls-Royce is a key partner for Emirates and we have been impressed with its commitment to continual improvements in the economic and operational performance of the Trent 900. These improvements have been decisive factors in our selection of the product for 50 of our A380s.”
The fantastic news followed with a top award from the largest graduate recruitment awards event in Europe for the Most Popular Engineering Firm.
Around 1,400 guests from the world of graduate recruitment attended the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards at Grosvenor House in London where 40,000 students and recent graduates from 120 different universities took part in a national survey.
Bondholder Rolls-Royce took the top award beating runners-up Airbus and Jaguar Land Rover. The company also came second in the Rising Star Award.
