Marina backs trust’s wildlife campaign
Mercia Marina has announced it is taking part in a month-long campaign organised by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, which encourages everyone to do one ‘wild thing’ a day.
The marina, near Willington is backing the trust’s 30 Days Wild campaign, which takes place throughout June.
Throughout campaign, visitors can explore the marina using its free walking maps or its Wildlife Bingo trail to discover the natural wonders and rich diversity that makes the site a David Bellamy Conservation Award Gold Park.
The marina will also be running community volunteer events to create new habitats for local wildlife.
Meanwhile, retailers at the site will be running special promotions throughout the month in aid of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, including discounts on sustainable and wildlife products, special vegetarian dishes and cocktails and a raffle prize draw to win a wild children’s toys bundle.
Tom Warden, the marina’s commercial and development manager, said: “We are thrilled to be part of the 30 Days Wild campaign and support the wildlife trust’s wonderful initiative.
“At Mercia Marina, our visitors and community treasure the diverse nature that calls the marina home.
“Getting involved is our way of giving a little back to our natural environment, inspire our community and visitors to take part, and raise money to support the vital work Derbyshire Wildlife Trust does every day locally.”
