Bondholders run for CALM
Several Marketing Derby Bondholders are coming together to run the Derby 10K in support of Rebecca Shaw, of fellow Bondholder Scenariio, to raise money and awareness for the charity CALM – new date yet to be confirmed.
A team of 50 runners from Bondholders HUUB, Cactus Images, MSG Tours, Oviso, Love Marketing, Sky Recruitment and Scenariio will be running the 10K of fellow Bondholder Derby County Community Trust, which is sponsored by HUUB, in aid of the charity CALM: Campaign Against Living Miserably.
Rebecca Shaw, who tragically lost her husband to suicide last year, said: “I am overwhelmed by the support that I have received from Marketing Derby Bondholders. Not only have a huge number of people sponsored me to run but so many people have offered to run alongside me and generate more donations from their circle of connections.”
The charity helps to save lives by providing a free and anonymous helpline staffed by trained professionals to men who are struggling with life.
85 men a week take their own life in the UK alone and it is the biggest killer of men under 40. When a man feels like he is in a hole that he can’t climb out of, suicide might feel like the only option.
Dean Jackson, Founder of HUUB, said: “Suicide is such a tragic loss of life. When I heard what happened to Becky’s husband I wanted to support her and her boys in any way that I could. We need to end the silent suffering that is happening to so many.”
The CALM charity offers support for anyone who might be struggling to talk to someone about how they are feeling through telephone, at 0800 58 58 58, and webchat, 5pm-12am daily.
