Rolls-Royce and Vaillant Group are among the companies shortlisted for awards which recognise the region’s top manufacturers.

Both firms have received nominations for the Made in the Midlands Awards, which are organised by Insider.

Rolls-Royce Submarines is nominated for the Manufacturing Apprenticeship/Training Scheme Award, while one of its apprentices, Rhianna Lees, is shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year.

Heating technology giant Vaillant Group is up for the Manufacturing Innovation Award and the coveted Manufacturer of the Year Award (over £25m).

Ian Griffin, deputy editor at Insider, said: “This year Insider’s Made in the Midlands attracted almost 70 entries from 48 businesses – the highest totals the competition has had in that 13-year history.

“The shortlists represent not just the best, but the very best, of what Midland manufacturing has to offer the world.”

The winners will be announced at ceremony in Birmingham on 4 May.
