Hospice café celebrates visitor landmark
A weekly café at Treetops Hospice offering support to people living with a life-limiting condition or who have been bereaved is celebrating a landmark.
Since reopening its doors following the lifting off all Covid restrictions, the Wellbeing Café has welcomed over 1,000 visitors.
First launched in 2019, the Risley hospice offers an informal way for people to find out about the care available to them or their loved ones.
Treetops staff and volunteers are available to chat while visitors enjoy free hot drinks and homemade cakes.
During the pandemic, the hospice was forced to close its doors to visitors but continued to support patients and families online and through telephone calls.
Alison Hembrow, wellbeing, support and information manager at Treetops, said: “The café is a lovely, welcoming space which looks out onto our beautiful grounds and gardens. We welcome people to come along with family and friends and find out more about our care.
“Each week, we regularly welcome 50 or more people to the café and we’re so pleased to reach this significant milestone.”
