A major timber frame manufacturer has announced it has chosen Infinity Park Derby as the location for its new £45 million base.

This summer, Oregon Timber Frame, which is one of the largest timber frame manufacturers in the UK, will relocate from its current headquarters in Burton to a recently completed 186,000 sq ft facility, which has been built by Bowmer + Kirkland.

The move to the facility, which is located off Junction 3 of the A50, is expected to create around 200 jobs.

Barratt Developments acquired Oregon Timber Frame in 2019 to support its off-site production operations.

The housebuilding giant is understood to have invested £45 million in the new site, which has been built to high environmental standards.

Peter Wade, joint managing director of Oregon, said: “Infinity Park Derby will ultimately become our new base to support Barratt’s move to modern methods of construction, and so it was imperative that the building’s sustainable credentials were in line with those of our business.

“This new state-of-the-art facility will support our long-term goals to increase our use of modern methods of construction off-site and reduce our carbon footprint.”

Infinity Park Derby is being delivered by a public-private partnership, which includes Derby City Council, University of Derby, the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, Rolls-Royce, Harpur Crewe Estates and a developer consortium comprising Wilson Bowden Developments – which is also part of Barratt – and Peveril Securities.

Councillor Steve Hassall, the city council’s cabinet member for regeneration, decarbonisation, strategic planning and transport, said: “We are thrilled to see more companies choosing Derby for their home.

“Oregon is one of the largest timber frame manufacturers in the country, and their move to Infinity Park Derby is testament to our city’s reputation as a national leader for innovation, manufacturing and logistics.

“With more design and build opportunities available, and more and more brands based here, we are looking forward to welcoming more businesses to Derby in the future.”
