Architects’ stunning countryside home approved
Planning permission has been granted for a stunning new contemporary home in the Derbyshire countryside designed by Matthew Montague Architects.
Amber Valley Borough Council has given the go-ahead for the sunken, split-level, single storey home, which will be built in the grounds of Chevin Mount, in Farnah Green, near Belper.
Chevin Mount is an individually-designed house built in 1896 occupying a large plot with stunning countryside views.
The new dwelling will be built on the north part of the existing property’s garden.
In a statement, Matthew Montague Architects said: “The house that has received planning permission is low-lying to reduce the impact on the countryside.
“The low-level, split design takes advantage of the sloping nature of the site and results in a modern property that harmoniously sits within the landscape and reflects the contours of the hillside.
“The new dwelling curves across the landscape and has large glazing panels to make the most of the views across open countryside.”
