Communications firm takes on its first apprentices

Invictus Communications has announced its has taken on its first batch of apprentices to work in key roles across the business.

The telecommunications, IT and energy provider has appointed a trio of apprentices, marketing assistant Evie Culligan, IT support technician Louis Garner and digital support technician Selwyn Christianson.

All three are completing nationally recognised qualifications through apprenticeship provider EMA Training in Derby.

Evie is a former pupil at Chellaston Academy and worked at a boarding kennels before applying for the apprenticeship to develop her marketing and content production skills.

Louis is also a former pupil at Chellaston Academy. He then studied Games Design and Development at Derby College and Preston UClan University and worked in customer service and warehousing at Argos before joining Invictus Communications.

Selwyn has joined the company from his role as a tester for an indie games design company to gain formal qualifications to match his digital experience and supports clients requiring remote support.

Invictus Communications managing director Jonny McPhee said: “This is the first time that we have employed apprentices and all three of these young people are already making a hugely positive impact on the business.

“Apprenticeships are definitely the way forward for growing SMEs like ourselves.

“The programme enables us to grow our own talent and brings energy and new ideas into a business – enabling us to stay ahead of the curve in the fast-moving sector that we operate in.

“It is therefore a win-win situation – both for the apprentices who earn while they learn and for the employer.”
