Law firm reveals role in heritage vehicle centre plan

Law firm Geldards has revealed its role in plans to create a £3 million heritage vehicle centre in Derby.

The former Rolls-Royce Light Alloy Factory site, in Osmaston Road, will soon see contractors start work to create a centre for classic vehicles, run by Great Northern Classics.

Owners of cars, motorbikes and lorries can bring their vintage vehicles to be restored.

The project is expected to create 120 jobs, as well as preserving vital skills for the classic vehicle industry with a training academy, which will offer apprenticeships to a new generation.

Geldards provided legal advice to Derby City Council regarding the funding for the project and a wide range of complex legal issues, which enabled it to go ahead.

Corporate partner Jenny Chatten and senior associate Sarah Bailey led on the advice to the city council, supported by associate Sharon Lowe, who advised on property matters.

Jenny said: “Geldards are thrilled to have played an important role in helping this extremely exciting project get off the ground.

“It’s going to be a great addition to the city of Derby, attracting visitors and creating employment and skills training.

“We have a long working relationship with Derby City Council and enjoyed working together to breathe life into this scheme.”
