Visitors to the Derby City Lab are set to be given a sneak peek of the new-look Market Hall, courtesy of Lathams and Wates.

From Tuesday, the St James Street venue will play host to an exhibition, which will give people an insight into the work that has been going on behind the scenes so far to transform the Market Hall into a focal building in the city centre.

The Market Hall is being turned into an attractive and flexible events space.
Once it reopens in 2024, it will host a wide range of community and commercial activities.

Lathams, which is leading on the design of the new-look Market Hall, and building contractor Wates, are working closely with Derby City Council to deliver the project for the city.

Staff from both companies will be on hand at the City Lab to discuss all aspects of the project.

In a statement, Lathams said: “This is a rare opportunity to learn about the recent programme of conservation repairs to safeguard the building, and the work being done to transform it into an attractive and flexible market hall and events space.

“Everyone is welcome to come and find out what’s happening, and to see the drawings, visuals and videos on display.”

The exhibition will run until Friday 4 November.
