Contractor secures student scheme work

Electrical contractor Morecrofts has secured an order for the design and installation of electrical services at a large student accommodation scheme being delivered by Bowmer + Kirkland.

The firm will work on the new 702-bedroomed scheme, which forms part of the Island Quarter development, in Nottingham.

The contract was awarded to Morecrofts by main contractor Bowmer + Kirkland and follows on from the success of the joint, award-winning Space Park project for the University of Leicester.

Morecrofts services blue-chip, regional and national organisations from its Derby base, specialising in projects in the commercial, educational, food, accommodation and industrial sectors across England.

Managing director Jared Mitchell said: “When complete, this contract will take our running total to over 5,000 bedrooms of student accommodation.

“The sector continues to be buoyant and our successful experience in completing many larger schemes, mainly within the Midlands and London/southeast, ensures we are in a great position to continue this trajectory.”
