Rolls-Royce announces glut of engine maintenance deals

Rolls-Royce has announced a flurry of deals with airlines, which will see it look after their aero engines.

At the Farnborough Air Show last week, the engineering giant, which has its civil aerospace division in Derby, announced TotalCare service agreements with flypop, Norse Atlantic Airways and ITA Airways.

The deal with flypop will see Rolls-Royce service and maintain its four Trent 700 powered Airbus A330ceo aircraft.

Flypop is a new UK low-cost airline and agreement is the first to be signed between the two companies.

The Norse Atlantic Airways deal will see Rolls-Royce provide TotalCare services for its fleet of 15 Trent 1000-powered Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Finally, the deal with Italian airline Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA) Airways will see Rolls-Royce look after Trent XWB engines that will power six Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The agreement is the first to be signed between Rolls-Royce and ITA Airways.
Rolls-Royce will power all ITA Airways’ new generation widebodies which also includes the Airbus A330neo, powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000.

Ewen McDonald, Rolls-Royce’s chief customer officer, said: “We are delighted to sign this long-term service agreement with ITA Airways, and we have incredible pride in being the engine manufacturer that will power all their new generation widebodies.

“Through this agreement, we are embarking on a long-term partnership with ITA Airways to ensure their fleet will fly reliably, efficiently and sustainably for decades to come.”
