A deal has been secured for a key retail unit in a Derbyshire market town.

The Yorkshire Trading Company has snapped up the former Waitrose/Bargain Buys unit in Ashbourne.

The firm is a Yorkshire-based discount retailer whose brand also includes Rydale Clothing.

William Speed, of Salloway Property Consultants, who brokered the deal on behalf of a private client, said: “It is great to see some faith being restored in Ashbourne’s High Street, after what can only be described as a challenging time for the town.

“I believe that this may be the catalyst for further life being injected into Ashbourne town centre.

“I wish Yorkshire Trading Company all the best with the opening of their new store.

“I have faith that with this new store opening others will follow and we will see Ashbourne rebound to its former glory days.”
