A charity spring ball in aid of Children First Derby has raised thousands of pounds to support its work.

The event, which recently took place at Morley Hayes, raised a total of £8,000, including £2,000 generated from an online auction of Derby County items, which included a pair of boots belonging to manager Wayne Rooney, which alone fetched £620.

All the money from the sell-out event, which was sponsored by Smith Partnership, will go towards supporting local vulnerable children, young people, and families.

Irshad Baqui, chief executive of Children First Derby, said: “We were delighted to see the return of our popular Charity Spring Ball and to have received such fantastic support from the local business community.

“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, and to all those who generously donated auction prizes to help support the event.”
