Students’ work on the big screen
Film Studies students at Derby College Group have seen the fruits of their labours appear on the big screen at QUAD.
The group of 12 students, who are based at the college’s Joseph Wright Centre, presented their original work, which they have created as part of the BFI Film Academy course, at a gala screening.
The students were accepted onto course, which has been run by QUAD alongside its level 3 college study programme.
Designed to better prepare them for their future careers, the course enables students to work with industry professionals in a series of evening and weekend masterclasses to develop their practical knowledge and skills across all roles in the film industry.
Derby College Group team manager Sally Archer said: “This has been an incredible opportunity for our students, and we are delighted with the quality of their work.
“As well as broadening their skills in a wide range of industry roles, they have achieved a Silver Arts Award and will also become members of the coveted BFI Film Academy alumni with access to such events as BAFTA career talks, training masterclasses, paid traineeship placements at Pinewood Studios and jobs and exclusive residential programmes.”
