Virtual return for military rail recruitment event

Rail Forum Midlands has announced that an event aimed at recruiting new talent from the military will return this year as a virtual event.

The third Military is Good for Rail event, organised in collaboration with the Career Transition Partnership, is set to take place on 27 May, from 9am to 1pm.

Exhibiting companies can expect to network with an estimated 200 to 250 delegates from all different areas and ranks of the military.

Attendees will be a combination of both recent and imminent military leavers looking for jobs; people leaving in the coming months that have identified rail as a serious option for them; and people not due to leave for around 12 months but who want to explore more about what rail has to offer.

Elaine Clark, chief executive of Rail Forum Midlands, said: “Our members, and the industry as a whole, value the brilliant work ethic and skill sets that military leavers possess, which is why RFM are delighted to confirm that the fair is going ahead again this year albeit virtually.

“This new format brings the added benefit of more delegates having the opportunity to attend, regardless of where they are based, so attendee numbers are set to increase well above the record 160 set in 2019.”

Military is Good for Rail will be held on the same interactive networking platform as the rail forum’s InfraTalk event, which took place in January.
