Blooming good idea to lift staff morale
Flowerworld has been looking to raise the spirits of isolated staff by saying it with flowers.
During the first lockdown, many of the firm’s 460 staff found themselves at home, self-isolating, furloughed or working remotely.
Managers quickly identified that some of these isolating colleagues were feeling stressed, anxious or isolated and decided to show them that they were not forgotten.
Tracey Mason, one of the firm’s team of community champions, was tasked with personally delivering a bouquet to every one of Flowerworld’s 67 isolating colleagues.
She said: “We found that many of our colleagues were feeling stressed, worried and isolated.
“Even though they work with flowers every day, their reactions to receiving a bouquet of flowers was so positive – it showed them that they were not forgotten and made them feel valued.”
It has inspired the business to develop a new business-to-business range of bouquets aimed at boosting people’s well-being.
They are specifically targeted at diligent home-workers, those who are isolating or those who just need cheering up.
Tracey said: “Now, more than ever, we need to look after our mental health.
“I would encourage everyone to take an extra moment to remember how even small gestures can have a huge impact for someone who is finding everyday life more difficult, for whatever reason, right now.”
