New lease of life for Derbyshire pub

Plans have been put forward to turn a former community pub in Derbyshire into a high-end food and drink establishment.

Lisa Thorley, who previously ran the popular Lisa Jean Brasserie, inside the former Bennetts department store, in Iron Gate, has applied to Amber Valley Borough Council to reopen The Patternmakers Arms, in Duffield, as high-quality pub/restaurant.

The pub, in Crown Street, closed its doors almost a year ago. The new venture would create 35 jobs.

Plans include the restoration and renovation of the building and the replacement of existing inadequate structures with a new single storey extension to the rear.

Following its closure, the property was bought in November by the Lidher family, experienced developers with a track record of restoring heritage buildings in and around Derby.

The planning application is set to be considered at the next meeting of the borough council’s planning committee next month.

Lisa said: “The proposed extension will enable us to breathe new life into this locally important building, create new jobs and support local businesses.

“We look forward to receiving a positive decision at the planning committee meeting, which will enable us to bring a popular local business back into use.”
