Bondholder charity Safe and Sound is partnering with fellow Bondholders Derby County Community Trust and Colleague Box.

The Derbyshire based child exploitation charity has supported this summer’s NCS programme run by the Community Trust with a series of awareness raising sessions on the issue for young people.

Support workers from the charity were invited by the Trust to hold sessions for 85 local young people who joined the NCS summer programme entitled ‘Keep Doing Good’ which was part of a national initiative to enable young people to complete one million volunteering hours.

Safe and Sound chief executive Tracy Harrison said: “We were grateful for the opportunity to work with young people taking part in this year’s NCS programme which has been particularly valuable after these long weeks of lockdown to increase their awareness of the dangers facing themselves and their peers.”

Derby County Community Trust NCS Project Manager Simon Doherty added: “With the current situation, young people are particularly vulnerable and Safe and Sound have helped them understand the dangers and on building resilience to help them move forwards with their lives in a safe way.”

In addition, Colleague Box has chosen Safe and Sound as its charity partner for their next personalised gifts campaign.

The expanding company is now planning its Christmas range and is pledging to donate £1 from each order received to the specialist charity.

Natalie Bamford, Creative Director of the company, explained: “Having worked with children with special educational needs I know just how vulnerable many of them are to grooming and exploitation and we are very lucky to have Safe and Sound who do a brilliant job to support young people, their families and to raise awareness of the dangers to the wider public.

Safe and Sound chief executive Tracy Harrison added: “Adam and Natalie have proved that, through creativity and hard work, positives can come out negative situations and they are fantastic role models to other young entrepreneurs.

“We largely depend on the generosity and support of local individuals, groups and businesses so are very grateful that Colleague Box have chosen us as their charity partner over the coming months.”
