On the ground
Bondholder Rodgers Leask is ready to start on ground investigation works at the Becketwell development site in Derby city centre.
The work on the £200m Becketwell development by fellow Bondholders St James' Securities and Derby City Council will take three months, including monitoring and tests.
New apartments, a public square, retail/leisure, offices and a new performance venue are part of the plans for the site which will regenerate the area around the demolished Debenhams store in Victoria Street and the former Duckworth Square.
Andy Leask, co-founder and director of Rodgers Leask, said: “It's great to be working on a major scheme in Derby that will help regenerate the city centre and I'm delighted to say that this is the biggest project that we have ever been involved with in the city.”
Recently, Rodgers Leask has been laying the groundwork for projects including fellow Bondholder Toyota Motor Manufacturing's plant expansion at Burnaston, to allow the car manufacturer to store an extra 3,500 new vehicles on site.
The company acted as civil engineering designer for main contractor, Whitehouse Construction, and design consultant for PowerCem, whose green product called RoadCem binds together existing soils on site to avoid removing material to landfill and importing stone, saving approximately 3,000 lorry journeys.
